ATTACH™ Parenting Program Part 1

The objective of this course is to prepare you to understand the ATTACH™ Parenting Program intervention so that you can deliver this program to mothers and their co-parenting support person in community agency settings, online or at home.

The ATTACH™ Parenting Program intervention can be used as an “add-on” program to existing parenting programs or as a “stand-alone” intervention.

In order to grasp the ATTACH™ Parenting Program intervention, background in Attachment Theory, Mentalization and Reflective Functioning (RF)/Parental Reflective Function (PRF) is necessary.

This course will:

Teach you about Mentalization, Reflective Functioning (RF) and Parental Reflective Function (PRF)
Expand on the Attachment Theory
Explain why Reflective Functioning matters for parent/child attachment
How to use the above concepts to deliver the ATTACH™ Parenting Program Intervention program

ATTACH™ Parenting Program Part 2

The objective of this course is to expose you to the ATTACH™ Parenting Program intervention in action to deepen your understanding of the ATTACH™ Parenting Program facilitator role.

You will see what you learned in Part 1 in action.

This course will include access to:

11 Therapy and Play Sessions for you to view
- 1 video example of the ATTACH™ Parenting Program conducted online.
- Note: 4 videos are mandatory for you to watch to continue in the course and obtain full certification.
Outlines for the therapy sessions are available for you to view.

ATTACH™ Parenting Program Part 3

The objective of this course is to put your learning and skills into action with in-person training. Please contact us for training dates.

This course has to be taken IN-PERSON. Only enroll in this course if you have completed Parts 1 and 2 and you have completed the Final Exam for the ATTACH™ Parenting ProgramProgram. After completing Part 1 and 2, please contact us at: nicole.letourneau@ucalgary.ca and/or mhart@ucalgary.ca

Learning for this course will be delivered using these methods:

2 days of in-person training

What you will receive at the in-person training:

Physical copies of the ATTACH™ Parenting Program materials
Physical copy of the ATTACH™ Parenting Program Manual
ATTACH™ iPad* (There are some requirements, please contact us for more info).

Once you have completed the in-person training:

You must take a video of you administering the ATTACH™ Parenting Program intervention to receive the ATTACH™ Parenting Program Facilitator certification.
Once the video has been reviewed and approved by our instructors, you will receive the ATTACH™ Facilitator certification from us.
Remember: your certification will expire after 1 year. Please make sure you re-certify by taking this course.
